How to Declutter & Renew Your Space

On occasion, our facilities need to be refreshed.  Whether the area needs to change in function or just in style, a fresh environment enhances our moods, productivity, and general comfort.

Starting your refresh by asking yourself these two questions will be helpful.

  • What modifications do I like to see made to how things operate here?
  • What atmosphere do I desire in my room?

After answering those two questions, you must additionally take the budget into consideration. A redesign does not always entail substantial financial gains.  To extend your budget, think about using the items you currently have and simply getting rid of the stuff you don’t need.  It’s remarkable how much new energy can be generated by throwing stuff away and placing an “old chair” in a different location.

Keep in mind the answers to the first two questions as you start the shift by following these simple steps.

Step 1: Do away with/keep/consider

  • Donate anything you no longer need to a nearby charity and throw away all your rubbish.
  • All of the furniture and other items that you need or want in your renovated room should be moved out so that you can consider (and clean) the space.
  • There are always a few issues with which one cannot come to a quick conclusion.  Put these items away and give them some thought later.

Step 2: Clean your space

No matter how well-kept your space is kept, you still need to clean the baseboards and vacuum them when you move everything out.

Step 3: Begin any important projects

such as painting, hanging wallpaper, or building new furniture.  Because color generates mood, it’s important to consider how you want the space to feel when choosing colors.

4. Put it back together

Prioritize bringing in the larger components before the smaller ones, and make sure everything you bring into the room is clean.

  • Make sure you don’t just place everything back where they were when they were returning to the area.
  • Think about transferring a piece from another area to this one as part of the renovation.
  • You should also go over your “consider” pile again at this time.  Rearrange the objects in the new space to see if they still fit and whether it’s time to get rid of them.
  • Above all else, make sure you personalize and settle into the space.

Your house belongs to you, so whether it has undergone extensive renovation, recent updates, or is in its current condition, it should be tidy.
